our studio

lynn and susan have two very different studios...the one upstairs from their gallery in biltmore village (blue) is where most of the magic happens.  the cast pieces are transformed from rough hunks of metal to smooth, shiny and/or textured pieces of artwork. the walls in this studio are painted gold (to thrill lynn and annoy susan) most appropriately. there are designated areas for specific tasks such as soldering, polishing and stone setting (and other general injury areas). while shopping downstairs customers often ask if renovation is underway in the building as there is much banging and other loud noises overhead.  no one ever expects the process of making beautiful small object of art to be so loud or dirty. quite often someone in an apron and magnifying headpiece appears from upstairs looking much like a chimney sweep with a rouge blackened face.

since both women are at blue most days to design custom pieces or for just general questions from customers, the casting takes place late at night....a great sight for neighbors as the kiln heats up and and the casting torches flame over molten gold.

both studios are well protected at all times by one
willow and maximusor more of the girls' many animals who love to watch and get in the way. many a whisker has been sacrificed to the casting goddesses.

but the main stars of both studios are alex and sam, the cockers who go back and forth everyday with the girls.  they work hard greeting
all the customers and giving all the animal lovers a “pet-fix” while they're away from their own pets.
